The treatment of uveitis can be a challenge due to the recurrent nature of the disease. Our Ueva service works in co- ordination with physicians in prescribing steroids and immunosuppressive in the treatment of uveitis, both of which need careful monitoring. Chronic inflammation gives rise to complicated cataracts which are managed by phacoemulsification and heparin surface modified intraocular lenses, which reduce the inflammation in these high risk patients.
