Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MPJAY) is a flagship health programme of the State Government of Maharashtra. This was earlier known as Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Aarogya Yojana and is run by the RGJAY Society. This is a cashless treatment scheme for the poor. Insurance benefits up to Rs.2 lakhs can be availed by a person in a year.
The scheme operates through a third party insurance. While insurance cover is provided by National Insurance Company Ltd, MD India is the Third Party Administrator for the scheme is thus the agency that is responsible for completing the formalities associated with health insurance. Shri Ganapati Netralaya has been empanelled under the MJPJAY scheme to provide service to the poor.
Under this scheme any person who holds a yellow or orange ration card can avail treatment free of cost at an empanelled hospital for the diseases covered under the scheme. There is an ‘Arogyamitra’, who is the first contact person for MJPJAY patient at the hospital. Arogyamitra helps the patients in getting the benefit of the scheme after verifying the credentials.
The hospital has 25% beds reserved for the MJPJAY patients. All the diseases which are covered under the scheme are treated free of cost which includes diagnostics. The patient is given food when admitted to the hospital and money to travel back home by stc bus or 2nd class by train.
