The Eye bank at Shri Ganapati Netralaya has a dedicated team of medical and paramedical staff for the collection, storage and transplantation of donor eyes. A 24-hour facility is available for the collection of eyes. In the eye bank, the eye is examined and assessed and the corneal tissue is stored in the required media. The eye bank is well equipped with a specular microscope, a slit lamp and storage media.The patients requiring corneal transplantation are registered and called for surgery based on the registration and priority.
The hospital vehicle fetches the patients from their villages for the transplant to the hospital. Public education programmes are conducted regularly to create awareness regarding eye donation.
